Me hit drum. Me like hit drum. Hit drum fun. BAM! BAM!
Call me Ron or Ronna-Jay.
In The Beginning - My first steady “pro” gig was at a bar in Minneapolis when I was 16. It was a funk band led by a guy named Herman Jones. I got fired because I was too immature. However, after letting me go, Herman said, "Ron, YOU’VE GOT IT. Don't ever quit kickin' the drums. You bad!!" That gave me the confidence I needed to practice my @&$ off and give it a shot. True story. The love of music has never left my heart.
Yesterday - I was in the R&B/funk/jazz scene for many years. I've traveled the world, sharing the stage with acts like The Ronny Loew Band, The Steeles, Alexander O'Neal, Mint Condition and Grammy Award Winner Ann Nesby, just to name a few. Years ago, I placed 3rd in Minnesota's Annual Best Drummer Contest. My gig for the last 7 years that I recently left was a rock trio called The Tracey Blake Project. We kicked ass! One of the baddest bands in town - I still love those guys!
Today - This "fun, rockin', ambitious party band" called 8FOOT4 blindsides me. I like these guys from the get-go. Now, I'm a proud member. Not only do we have a blast together, but Skip, Ric and Biscuit are all down-to-earth and know how to keep a band runnin’ smooth. They’ve got AWESOME FANS and know how to treat ‘em. These things really mean alot to me.
Oh yeah…and they FREAKIN’ ROCK!!!
Tomorrow – I’m looking forward to a KICK ASS RIDE with the 8FOOT4 Band!!!
